LEARNING AT I-EP
Mathematics

I-EP is dedicated to the teaching of math. In our current schedule, we have more math classes than the national requirement. This means that students receive four hours of math classes per week. We also make sure that students have maths classes every day. Additionally, one day a week students will have double math, this allows the students to explore the scope of mathematics.

I-EP currently uses Chinese national curriculum. Our math team has developed a scope and sequence based upon this integrated the five strands of mathematics in the IB. These are:

•    Data handling

•    Measurement

•    Shape and Space

•    Pattern and Function

•    Number

In I-EP, we try to integrate math into our units of inquiry. By doing this, its create a deeper understanding of the maths that is being studied but also the unit of inquiry. However, in situations where the maths subjects cannot be integrated, maths will be taught as a stand-alone unit but will still be taught using inquiry methodologies.
